Pre-Summit Farm Tour
Wollam Gardens, Jeffersonton, Virginia
You are invited to tour and experience a Washington, D.C., area Flower Farm on Thursday June 28th. See the creative farmer-florists in action on the day before our Slow Flowers' Summit -- and be inspired by beautiful, local and seasonal flowers.
Schedule as follows:
10 a.m.-11 a.m.: gather at Wollam Gardens in Jeffersonton, Virginia where you'll watch the Wollam crew finish up flower harvest and prepare for the weekend's Farmers' Markets. Coffee and pastries served.
11 a.m.-Noon: Farmer Bob Wollam will lead a walking tour through his farm, where you'll hear how he developed and operates 11 acres of annuals, perennials, bulbs, and woodies.
Noon-2 p.m.: Enjoy discussions of flower growing for the local D.C. area market. Learn about Wollam’s Agrotourism business while we gather beneath his unique Event Pavilion. Attendees may return to the field to cut flowers for themselves. Lunch is included in the registration fee.
Be Prepared: Dress for walking and wear sunscreen. The Gardens are located approximately 1 hour-30 minutes from downtown D.C.
This is a private event, for conference attendees. Reservations will end 48 hours prior to adequately prepare food.
